Plans are underway for the 2023 Farnham Literary Festival, set for 3 to 12 March.

The 2022 festival was the first of its kind in Farnham and a great success! Over 2,500 people took part in 50 events. It inspired, enthused, educated and entertained, bringing literature, books and writing to people of all ages and interests.

Among the highlights were author visits to schoolchildren, the opening talk from Sandi Toksvig and lively discussions from expert panellists..

What you said about 2022

The breadth of events – literary walks, book-related crafts, comedy and workshops – meant that the festival is not just for the well-read but for anyone curious to try something new.

Here are some of the things people said about the 2022 festival.

“Was a fantastic festival, so lucky to have it here in Farnham.”

“Wonderful festival! Thank you to everyone who took part and organising and all the amazing authors and speakers.”

“Thank you so much for organising it – the school events were wonderful!”

What to expect in 2023

Events and Authors & Speakers give a flavour of what audiences enjoyed in 2022. The line-up featured prize-winning poets, best-selling novelists and oral storytellers alongside journalists, academics, comedians and even a politician.

The events programme was diverse, too: writing workshops and a practical guide to getting published sat comfortably with stand-up comedy, film screenings and book valuations. Look forward to a similarly impressive programme in 2023.

Why not enter a writing competition? Shortlisted entries from 2022 are available to read and judges commended the quality of entries.

Further details of the 2023 festival including the line up of speakers and events will be announced in early 2023.
