His debut novel, The Lost Diary of Samuel Pepys, was named an historical fiction book of the year by The Times, the Independent and the FT. In 2023, he made inVerse, a series of films to mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s First Folio. One of the films, which was partly shot on the edge of space, was picked by CNN as one of their ‘100 images of the year.’
