Performed by Jonathan Jones, Rudyard Kipling – ‘Something of Myself’ is a one-man play covering the main events of Kipling’s life, interspersed with dramatic readings of his poetry. It is delivered in the first-person and covers his childhood, his marriage to an American and the loss of his son John in the Great War. Poems include, ‘If’, ‘The Glory of the Garden’, ‘Tommy’, and ‘Gunga Din’.
Jonathan has performed it nearly two hundred times, always to great acclaim, including at Bateman’s, Kipling’s home in West Sussex, and for the Worshipful Company of Stationers and Newspaper Makers, of which Kipling was a fellow member.
