Delivered with the support and funding of Farnham Town Council and coordinated by the Blue Bear Bookshop, the Farnham Literary Festival Schools Programme brings authors and illustrators into local schools to deliver a programme of talks, workshops and interactive sessions.

Welcome to the Farnham Literary Festival Schools’ Programme!

The Farnham Literary Festival Schools’ Programme introduces young people to the excitement of books, storytelling and creative writing in a celebration of imagination, storytelling and the joy of reading.

Delivered with the support and funding of Farnham Town Council and coordinated by the Blue Bear Bookshop, the programme brings authors and illustrators into local schools to deliver a programme of talks, workshops and interactive sessions.

Designed to inspire curiosity, confidence and a lifelong connection to books, the programme gives students the opportunity to explore stories, language and ideas in an engaging and accessible way, while supporting literacy, creativity and learning beyond the classroom.

At a time when literacy and a love of reading are being championed nationally more than ever, this programme aims to inspire confidence, curiosity and a lifelong connection to books.

Through author talks, workshops and interactive sessions, students will be encouraged to explore language, stories and their own creative potential in meaningful and exciting ways.

2026 Schools Programme Authors

In 2026, the Schools’ Programme facilitated author visits to 13 local schools, benefitting approximately 2,127 children.

The local schools that participated in this initiative were Frensham Heights, Potters Gate, Heath End, St Polycarps, Hale, Rowledge, Folly Hill, St Andrew’s, William Cobbett, Badshot Lea, South Farnham, University for the Creative Arts and Edgeborough.
